Annamaria Russo is a modern self-taught painter, born in Naples on 1 September 1987. From a very young age she showed a strong aptitude for drawing, and at twelve she developed a passion for portraiture, turning her works into gifts for the people closest to her. At school, a teacher recognised her ability and encouraged her to paint on canvas. She initially chose a different path, attending a technical institute, graduating in computer science and later earning a degree in Pharmacy. Her passion for drawing, however, never disappeared. Portrait after portrait, she refined her accuracy and realism, even though art remained for years a deeply personal form of expression. A turning point came in 2014, when she met artist Angelo Accardi. After seeing her portraits, he strongly encouraged her to explore painting and became an important mentor and source of inspiration. Russo began working first with acrylics and then oils, gradually finding in painting a language that felt entirely her own despite not having followed a traditional academic training in painting.
