Mauro Paparella was born in Benevento in 1962 and began his artistic journey in Sapri, on the Gulf of Policastro, where he developed an early passion for art. His youth was marked by travel, curiosity and a desire for experimentation, experiences that would later feed into his visual research. Largely self-taught, from the 1980s onwards he explored different painting techniques with great intensity, producing hundreds of works while searching for an authentic personal language. With the new millennium, this long period of experimentation led to a more defined and recognizable style. Paparella’s work combines pictorial tradition with design, symbolic imagery and, at times, digital and multimedia influences. His compositions often create suspended, dreamlike narratives in which reality and imagination overlap, giving his work a distinctive place within contemporary Italian art.
