Pietro Delasco was born in Brazil in 1967 to parents of Italian origin. The son of an artist, he spent many hours in his father’s studio from childhood, learning to clean brushes and palette knives, organise canvases and colours, catalogue paintings and drawings, and observe the daily rituals of painting.
At the age of ten he entered his first painting competition with a self-portrait. His fascination with colour grew through his father’s work and through the art books and catalogues he discovered in the studio. Seeing reproductions of Vincent van Gogh introduced him to what he perceived as the “movement of colour”, leaving a lasting impression on his artistic imagination.
Although he later enrolled in engineering and completed his degree, drawing remained a constant presence. During meetings, telephone calls and professional work, pages of notes became filled with faces, objects, shadows, numbers and marks. What began as a private habit gradually became recognisable to others as an artistic language.
Eventually Delasco decided to leave his corporate career and dedicate himself fully to art, travel and cultural exploration. Today, when he is not travelling, his life and work are divided between Brazil and Italy.
