Born in Lecce in 1982, Marcello Quarta is an Italian contemporary artist whose work brings together Pop Art, street culture and the visual language of fashion. He began experimenting with art at a young age and developed a personal vocabulary shaped by diverse influences, from Jackson Pollock’s dripping and Andy Warhol’s Pop Art to Mimmo Rotella’s décollage and contemporary street art. In his canvases, newspapers, magazines, luxury-fashion brands and cultural icons from past and present are layered into energetic compositions with a distinctly urban character. Through this process of assembling and reworking images, Quarta creates highly personal visions of contemporary life. His works have been exhibited internationally, including presentations in Izmir, Lyon, Paris, Geneva, Brooklyn, the Netherlands and Germany.
