Mars is a unique work by Cinzia Pellin in which the intensity of the female portrait meets one of the most recognisable elements of the artist’s research: the colour red.
The protagonist emerges from a predominantly monochrome composition, while the telephone, lips and selected chromatic details interrupt the black and white with an intense visual presence. The gesture, expression and writing across the composition give the work a provocative, energetic and contemporary character.
The title Mars evokes the Roman god of war, traditionally associated with strength, action and impulsiveness. Pellin reinterprets this symbolism through a bold and irreverent female figure, transforming the image into a representation of energy, rebellion and expressive freedom.
Red therefore plays a central narrative role: from the telephone to the lips, the colour becomes the focal point of tension within the composition, creating the strong visual contrast that characterises Cinzia Pellin’s pictorial language.
