Sweet Memory by Cinzia Pellin is a unique work begun in 2007 and completed in 2020, on the occasion of a renewed collaboration between the artist and the Belgian gallery Cafmeyer.
The composition originates in a personal memory and draws inspiration from a scene in the 1995 film Showgirls. Pellin transforms this cinematic reference into an intense image suspended between memory, sensuality and desire.
Two female figures occupy almost the entire pictorial space. Their proximity creates immediate visual tension, while the contrast between the predominantly monochrome painting and intense red interventions amplifies the emotional force of the scene.
In Sweet Memory, personal memory and cinematic imagery meet in an intimate and provocative composition consistent with Pellin’s research into femininity, emotion and the expressive power of the face. The work was exhibited in 2020 at Galleria Cafmeyer in Belgium.
